Dodital is at an altitude of 3024mts, an emerald lake surrounded by dense forests of Oak, Pine and Deodar. The lake is filled with Himalayan Golden Trout, but angling is prohibited to facilitate re- stocking. The Surrounding forests are rich in wildlife and one can also see a wide variety of birds. Occasionally, the Himalayan Black Bear may be sighted, as can a large number of unusually Coloured butterflies.  
The route to Dodital begins with a short drive from Uttarkashi to Sangam Chatti 15 kms away crossing a bridge over the Assi Ganga, the first day's trek involves a steep ascent of 7 kms to Agoda, where a well preserved Forest Rest House (FRH) provides for a good night's rest. The next day involves a long 16 kms trek along hill and dale, with some tempting but extremely steep short- cuts. The entire route is lined with a wide profusion of wild flowers. From Dodital, the return to Uttarkashi may be accomplished in a day through the truely Adventurous may want to trek to the hot  water springs of Chaula - Dungri some 9 kms away.
  

Day 1:
Delhi - Rishikesh 
Arrive Rishikesh and checkinto the Hotel or Tourist Rest house Rishikesh . Dinner and overnight in TRH Muni-Ki-Reti, Rishikesh.
Day 2:
Rishikesh - Kalyani
Drive to the road-head at Kalyani. The drive takes you through the picturesque Garhwal mountains along the Ganges. Camp overnight by the side of river Asi Ganga. Overnight in Tents.
Day 3:
Kalyani-Dodital
A gradual uphill trek through beautiful landscape of thick forests and steep cliffs brings you to the mysterious Dodital Lake (3307 m) - surrounded by dense forests, it is an ideal place for the nature lover. Overnight in Fo rest Rest House / Tents.
Day 4:
Dodital
Day at leisure. The crystal clear lake and the surrounding dense forests create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Explore the surrounding areas. Campfire dinner at night. Overnight in Forest Rest House / Tents.
Day 5:
Dodital-Darwa Dhar
Begin the trek ascending the Darwa Dhar Ridge ( 4115 m ) - the watershed of the Ganga and Yamuna River valleys. Overnight in Tents.
Day 6:
Darwa Dhar-midway Camp
Descend towards the Yamuna Valley. Set up camp for the night in the forest. Overnight in Tents.
Day 7:
Camp-Hanuman Chatti
Continue to Hanuman Chatti ( 2400m ) located on the bamks of river Yamuna. Overnight in Forest Rest House.
Day 8:
Hanuman Chatti-Yamnotri
Trek to the source of the river Yamuna; it is a gradual climb upto Yamnotri ( 3185m ). ( 10 Kms; 4-6 hrs of walking)
Day 9:
Yamnotri-Mussoorie
Trek down to the road-head and proceed by Jeep to the hill station Mussoorie- overlooking the Doon valley. En-route visit Lakhamandal- a site associated with the heroes of the epic 'Mahabharata'. There is an ancient temple and cave formations which are of interest. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Hotel at Mussoorie.( 10 Kms trek from Yamnotri to road-head; 3-4 hrs walking )
Day 10:
Mussoorie-Delhi
300 Km. Drive to Dekhi from Mussoorie.
