Rishikesh
also known as the 'Place of Sages' is
a spiritual town situated 24 kms. upstream from
Haridwar, at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga
and Ganga, It is believed that God by the name
of 'Hrishikesh' had apeared as an answer to the
hard penances by Rabhiya Rishi and henceforth
the place derived its name.
It is starting point for Char Dham pilgrimage
and an ideal destination for not only for pilgrims
but also for the people who are interested in
meditation, yoga and other aspects of Hinduism.

suspension bridge across river Ganga situated 5 kms.
from Rishikesh, on the way to Badrinath and
Kedarnath.
It was built in 1929 to replace a rope bridge. It
is believed the Rama's brother Lakshman crossed the
river here on a jute rope. |

an alternative to a boat ride from one bank of the

is just 37 km. from Rishikesh. GMVN has provides essential
rafting facilities at Kaudiala (389 mts.). Located on
the Rishikesh - Badrinath road. Kaudiala is surrounded
by dense forests.

river rafting enthusiasts, Kaudiala is Rafters camp.
GMVN conducts river rafting courses here. They provide
rafts, equipment and river side camping items. Rock
climbing can also be organised here.
